We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Wound Care Nurse to join our team at Cedar Ridge Inn. The Wound Care Nurse will be responsible for assessing, treating, and managing patients' wounds, ensuring optimal healing outcomes, and preventing infection. This role will require working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care to residents in our long-term care facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Wound Assessment & Treatment: Perform comprehensive assessments of residents' wounds, documenting their condition and progress. Develop individualized care plans for wound management and treatment.
- Wound Care Management: Administer wound care treatments, including dressing changes, debridement, and infection control, following established protocols and best practices.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare providers to develop and implement care plans. Provide guidance on the proper techniques for wound care.
- Prevention & Education: Educate staff and residents on preventing wounds, including proper skin care, pressure ulcer prevention, and positioning techniques. Conduct regular training sessions on wound care protocols.
- Monitoring & Documentation: Regularly monitor residents' progress and document wound status in the electronic health record (EHR). Ensure accurate, timely, and thorough documentation for clinical and regulatory purposes.
- Compliance: Ensure that all wound care practices are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as facility policies.
- Family and Resident Communication: Communicate with residents and their families about wound care procedures, progress, and expectations. Provide emotional support to residents experiencing pain or discomfort.
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New Mexico.
- Certification in Wound Care (WCC) or similar wound care certification preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in wound care, preferably in a long-term care or clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of wound care principles, techniques, and infection control practices.
- Ability to assess, plan, and implement wound care interventions independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients as necessary, following safe patient handling protocols.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a physically demanding workload.
