Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of our company. This role is responsible for recording transactions, managing accounts payable/receivable, and preparing monthly financial statements, including the income statement and balance sheet. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transaction Recording:
    • Accurately record all financial transactions, including daily income, expenses, and journal entries in the general ledger.
    • Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy of financial records.
  • Accounts Payable Management:
    • Review and process invoices for payment.
    • Ensure timely payment of bills, managing relationships with vendors and ensuring proper documentation.
    • Monitor and maintain accounts payable aging reports.
  • Monthly Financial Statements:
    • Prepare monthly income statement, balance sheet, and other financial reports.
    • Ensure financial records are accurate, complete, and comply with accounting standards.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances and provide recommendations to senior management.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor and track budget performance, identifying discrepancies or potential issues.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
    • Ensure proper tax filings and compliance with payroll regulations.
  • Tax Compliance and Reporting:
    • Prepare information necessary, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Collaborate with external accountants or auditors during year-end processes.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
    • Generate and analyze financial reports for management review, highlighting key financial metrics and trends.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support decision-making.
  • Internal Controls:
    • Develop and implement effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial assets.
    • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3 years) in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably with some experience in an accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with preparing financial statements and managing accounts payable/receivable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Work Environment: This position typically works in an office environment with standard business hours, with the flexibility during month-end and year-end reporting periods. We anticipate the role is 20-28 hours per week.
