The Center for Women and Families – Director of Emergency Shelter

The Center for Women and Families provides free services to people of all identities who have experienced intimate partner violence and sexual assault. We help our clients and their dependent children become survivors through trauma-informed advocacy. Our goal is to mitigate the impact of their trauma by reducing their risk factors and building their resiliency. We serve anyone in Jefferson, Bullitt, Spencer, Shelby, Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Floyd and Clark counties in Indiana.
The Director of Emergency Shelter is responsible for directing, coordinating and overseeing The Center's Emergency Shelter operations and programs, including Food Services. They will coordinate with Development, Human Resources, Facilities, and Finance departments to provide overall direction, supervision and support of Emergency Shelter programs and staff. The Director will contribute to agency-wide strategic initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate trauma-informed leadership and provide best practices for comprehensive daily crisis intervention, case management, and services of the Kentucky emergency shelter to clients, direct service staff, volunteers, administration, kitchen staff, and facilities. Provide oversight of emergency shelter goals and outcomes for adults, children, and families in transition.
- Participate in strategic planning and other performance measure processes. Contribute to a high level of CWF visioning and agency-wide outcomes. Work to infuse prevention into relevant aspects of shelter programming.
- Prepare and strategize on programmatic finances. Monitor and ensure that all decisions regarding finances are within budget.
- Collaborate and coordinate with appropriate staff on grants. Manage specific grant data in a timely and accurate manner to support the Finance and Development teams.
- Maintain quality assurance for emergency shelter operations by examining residential data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
- Review and write policy and procedures as required. Ensure policies are compliant with federal funders, state coalitions, and state funding standards.
- Facilitate mediation, conflict resolution, and grievance processes as needed.
- Oversee food services for emergency shelter residents and support the Supervisor of Food Services to maintain program budget, to train, evaluate and supervise kitchen assistants, to support Resident Food Council, and to maintain a safe and healthy kitchen and dining environment.
- Work to establish supportive collaboration with critical community partners. Maintain external relationships with local programmatic resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree.
- A minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets CWF automobile insurance requirements.
- Fluency in languages other than English are a plus.
