CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Senior Technical Training Specialist to join our Technical Training Team, located in Muncie, Noblesville, Anderson or Marion, IN.
You will have the ability to: conducts Operator Qualification performance evaluations to measure employees' competency to perform covered tasks and recognize and react to abnormal operating conditions. Monitors compliance reporting and works with Field Operations to ensure employees are scheduled to complete assigned and recurring Operator Qualification requirements. Coordinates the development and implementation of specialized training and development programs of a highly technical or sophisticated nature aimed at improving individual and organizational performance with a focus on quality and safety. Conducts needs assessments and designs, develops, evaluates, delivers, and evaluates technical training programs for skilled employees.

To be successful in this role you will:
* Schedules, conducts, and audits Operator Qualification performance evaluations in accordance with the company Operator Qualification Program. Reviews OQ-related procedures and content (including - but not limited to - performance evaluations, online training modules and supplemental training content) for adequacy and completeness and contributes to the revision process following established management of change processes.
* Develops training and performance evaluation materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines, industry "best practices" and state regulatory requirements.
* Designs and constructs direct training and evaluation simulations.
* Facilitates or participates in effective training delivery including analysis, implementation, testing and documentation to ensure employee's skills are current with codes, state statutes, administrative rules, manufacturers' procedures, and company procedures.
* Provides strategic consulting related to technical training for organization-wide initiatives and projects. Participates in the design, development, and implementation of training programs of a broad organizational scope.
* Analyzes applicable safety and regulatory policies and procedures and recommends or implements changes to the training to ensure that these matters are included in the instructional system design process.
* Provides on-going technical resources to field personnel and supervisors to support individual and organizational performance and goals.
* Recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modifications, and enhancements to training curricula and instructional programs.
* Provides input and assists in the planning, assessment, and implementation of organizational goals and objectives - in line with overall company standards and procedures. Provides input and assistance to appropriate standards committees based on both operational expertise and training implementation issues that arise from changes to those standards. Conducts skill assessments in areas of expertise to assist field operations in performance evaluations when requested. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
* Must possess a strong understanding of the natural gas industry and most facets of the business, including, but not limited to, gas transmission and distribution systems. Must be capable of completing and passing all relevant Operator Qualification knowledge assessments and performance evaluations assigned.
* Should have a commanding knowledge of multiple facets of distribution and transmission construction, operation, and maintenance tasks to ensure the ability to accurately assess individuals. Examples of certain high level task expertise could include, but is not limited to, plastic pipe joining; steel pipe joining; pipeline construction (equipment operation, start-up and shut down, pressure testing); pipeline repair; pipeline tapping and stopping operations; pressure control and metering; customer house piping; and service of customer appliances. Must be capable of gathering an in-depth knowledge and understanding of current policies (Engineering, Emergency Response Plan, Operations & Maintenance, Customer Service Policy, Safety, etc.) and remain current during training delivery.
Your background includes:
* Requires a bachelor's degree in Instructional System Design, Occupational Education, Industrial Technology or related field from an accredited college or university. Or in lieu of a degree, eight years of relevant work experience. Every two years of experience is equivalent to one year of experience.
* Requires a minimum of three (3) years of professional level experience in training design and delivery or related fields. Two (2) years of experience may be substituted for one (1) year of education.
* Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of field operations experience in a natural gas utility setting or related industry.
A bonus to have:
* Commercial Driver's License and/or Welding Certification.
