Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the development and implementation of safety policies, procedures, and programs. Identify training programs required and beneficial and assist in the training process.
· Develop and implement programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposures to health hazards, including safety training, communications, inspections, first aid, emergency preparedness, work procedures, disposal programs, and physical protective devices and equipment.
· Oversight for safety practices, accident and workers' compensation claims investigations, accident reporting procedures, compliance monitoring, record keeping and reporting processes to effectively reduce risk, increase safety awareness, and manage costs, while optimizing productivity.
· Develop and implement security and environmental control procedures, define, and provide required resources and train and supervise related staff.
· Investigate accidents and incidents, compile and prepare data in support of external investigation or litigation, and work with attorneys to negotiate settlements.
· Maintain awareness of current and emerging regulatory requirements and ensure that systems, programs, and recordkeeping and reporting procedures comply with requirements.

· Review operation incident frequencies, trends, conduct root cause analysis, and determine proper training to mitigate future incidents.
· The position works closely with all levels of management but will have substantial interface with Operations in improving the safety program including training to enhance a culture of safety awareness.
· Leadership and communication skills are essential. Ability to influence a safety culture into all employees.
· Communicate on a regular basis with individuals and large groups of employees.
· Communicate with Federal, state, and local authorities, insurance carriers, legal representatives regarding accidents & compliance issues.
· Travel to and be present at jobsites regularly is required.
· Establishes schedules and calendars ensuring all operators/foreman/drivers/ craft/shop workers are current with training requirements of company and regulatory agencies.
· Resides as our expert in OSHA compliance and regulations.
· Ensures a consistent Safety Culture throughout the locations that incorporate operations, safety and maintenance departments and emphasizes the team approach and individual responsibility of all employees to achieve common goals.
Job Requirements
· 4-year degree and 5 years related work experience in Safety
· Strong knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations, min 500 Hr. Certification
· Strong computer skills (MS Office)
· Spanish speaking a plus
· Ability to maintain levels of confidentiality.
· Well-developed oral and written communication skills and ability to speak in front of groups.
· Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
Must be knowledgeable and experienced in all aspects of trucking operations. Familiarity with relevant current and pending Government Regulations.
