Job Title: Part-Time Writing Coach
Degree Required: Bachelor
Bachelor's Degree required in English, Communications, or related degree
Degree Preferred: Masters
Experience Required: Writing coach/tutoring, teaching, or other writing experience (ie journalism)
Salary: Minimum $22, Maximum $30
Estimated Hours per Week: 10-20
Qualifications Required:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or other related field; Master’s degree preferred
- One year of writing coach/tutoring experience preferred
- Strong writing and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of writing center theory
- Ability to communicate writing concepts which include but are not limited to content development, sentence structure, APA & MLA formatting, grammar, mechanics, etc.
- Be able to work and communicate with a diverse student population
- Experience using Microsoft Office programs, databases and other computer programs or online media platforms
- Have a strong commitment to working with CCC students
- Ability to work successfully as a team with CCC faculty and staff
General Summary: The individual will work with students on writing, speech, and/or reading skills and how best to build these skills. Meet individually with students and/or in small groups, select or develop materials and coaching strategies to meet each student’s unique needs, provide writing and/or reading technique sessions for students and/or groups, track student participation and progress, prepare reports and coordinate scheduling, and work with students on any writing, speech, or reading assignment.
Essential Functions:
- Meet with students one-on-one or in small groups, virtually or in-person
- Provide writing technique sessions for classes and student groups
- Track student data in approved CCC software
- Market writing coach & other ASC services
- Assist with the general oversight of the ASC as needed
- Assist with ASC activities, events, and functions
- Other duties as assigned
