Description

Under the direction of, and reporting to the VP of Distribution, the Branch Manager works to achieve a high
level of customer satisfaction and efficient branch management. The Branch Manager works to build strong
customer loyalty and build retail clientele through providing exceptional customer service and support. This
position requires a hands-on approach and is committed to the expansion and success of the business by
implementing strategies that increase productivity and enable sales achievement, both in Retail and support
of Outside Sales functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage Branch Team:
o Edit process and review various inventory and pricing and corresponding reports.
o Review purchase order pricing and receiving with accounts payable.
o Maintain accurate inventory counting and control levels.
o Process and review various profit margin reports.
o Review back-order PO’s and open tickets.
o Manage fuel and propane accounts if appropriate.
o Manage branch inventory level
o Branch staffing
o Support branch staff through coaching and development.
Manage and Maintain Customer Relationships:
o Lead key initiatives around branch integration into Central McGowan operations.
o Manages relationships with internal and external business partners and customers.
o Manage inventory levels of hard goods / gases for both in store sales and external distribution
functions.
o Provide timely, accurate, competitive pricing while striving to maintain maximum profit margin.
o Determine customer requirements and expectations in order to recommend appropriate solutions.
o Proactively recommend products and services needed by customers to increase satisfaction and
improve transaction profitability.
Provide and direct customer service functions within the retail branch for all functions:
o Answer phone as well as answer customer service / accounts receivable questions.
o Provide service to incoming retail customers on gas refills.
o Provide service to incoming retail customers regarding hard good recommendations and sales.
o Educate, assist, and provide recommendations to customers on various products and processes.
o When appropriate set-up and demo equipment for customers.
o Open and answer Central McGowan sales folder several times daily and reconcile orders and PO’s for
customers.
o Reconcile cylinder count and leases with customers.
o Opening of retail store
o Generate new and repeat sales by making recommendations to prospects and clients about various
solutions the company offers to their business issues.
o Provide exceptional customer service to all prospects and clients whether on the phone, in person or
through electronic communications. Provide customer service via telephone to incoming city desk callers.
o Answer customer service calls, on product questions, recommendation or to place an order.
o Generate delivery tickets for phone in orders placed by customers looking for delivery. Ensure the
delivery person is aware of details on order.
o Troubleshoot various questions over the phone.
o Assist Central McGowan employees calling in with questions and tasks.
Perform various office tasks and reports as needed
o Reconcile cylinder load sheets for drivers and office staff.
o Maintain a clean and organized retail store.
o Re-stock sold items in retail store.
o Checking and posting of daily store invoices.
o Checking and posting of driver invoices.
o Count store cash drawer.
Primary point of contact for Route Sales Driver inquires:
o Setting daily and weekly route schedules
o Ensure proper training of route drivers
o Route Optimization
o Complete daily load reconciliation
o Verify count of cylinders on load sheet vs. each drivers’ daily tickets
o Work with route drivers to reconcile discrepancies.
o Work with route drivers to ensure proper paperwork and filing for branch support team.
o Double check the accuracy of load sheet numbers. 

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Certifications
o High School degree or equivalent required.
o Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in business management preferred.
o 2 – 5 years of Sales / Store experience, preferably in the distribution industry.
o Experience or knowledge in welding and industrial equipment sales and/or field-related tasks
preferred.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Perform additional projects and tasks as requested by management.

o Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment with shifting priorities and
multiple deadlines.
o Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to Central McGowan operations.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o Must be a good team-player, detail oriented and good at multi-tasking
o Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software, and standard business equipment (phone,
computer, copier/scanner etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
o High School degree or equivalent.
o Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in business management preferred.
o 1 – 2 year of business management or people management experience, required.
o 2-5 years of sales or industry experience, distribution industry preferred.
o 1 – 2 years of experience in welding supplies, processes, and industrial equipment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
o Demonstrate technical selling skills for welding and industrial equipment.
o Complete understanding of pricing and proposal models.
o Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills.
o Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.
o Able to lift, carry and/or push/pull up to 25 lbs. frequently.
o Twist, turn, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, stand, walk and reach frequently in the performance of
responsibilities.
o Apply manual dexterity, visual acuity and ability, for computer keyboarding, office equipment use,
reviewing detailed reports, information, and fine print.
o Sit for extended periods of time.
o Able to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, as required to meet customer needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is primarily indoors, operating standard office equipment and point of sale terminals.
