What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse Coordinator position at Central Office?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide orientation, supervision, and professional consultation for school nurses

Develop protocols and guidelines for nursing procedures used throughout the division

Assist in the screening, interviewing, selection, and evaluation of school nurses

Plan in-services and professional development activities to keep school nurses current with state mandates and prominent health issues

Make routine visits to school clinics for on-site observation and consultation with nurses and administrators
-
Act as a liaison between community agencies and the schools to identify, schedule, and coordinate needed services

Coordinate the compilation of data and submit state and local mandated reports

Update and revise the School Nurse Handbook

Identify candidates and coordinate training for substitute nurses

Coordinate and update Family Life Curriculum
-
Advise special education personnel regarding medical needs of identified students

Maintain and order up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment

Develop, implement and monitor the budget for each school nurse and the purchasing of materials

Coordinate and manage Medicaid billing information
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s of Science (BSN) degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
CPR Instructor Certification, First Aid Instructor Certification, AED Instructor Certification
Five years successful working experience as a school nurse or in community health and references giving evidence of competency in nursing care practices and supervision of personnel
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Administrative salary scale, Grade 4
