Our client is a stable and quickly growing Processing Facility in Tulare County seeking a motivated and high-performing Accountant to join their team. This position will report directly to the Controller on site along with Executives in the Corporate office. The Accountant will be responsible for daily and monthly accounting functions, as well as contributing to ad hoc accounting projects and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily and monthly accounting tasks for plant and farm accounts, including reconciliations, journal entries, analyzing general ledger accounts, and daily accounts payable tasks.
- Manage banking duties, such as cash/check deposits, ACH payment verifications, and issuing payments, ensuring banking entries are correctly recorded in accounting system and monthly bank reconciliations are completed on time.
- Support the review and posting of journal entries entered by the Accounts Payable team.
- Process weekly payroll and 401(k) entries, and assist with complex payroll tasks when needed.
- Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual account analyses to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare detailed financial and analytical reports, along with ad hoc reporting requests from management, by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account data and trends.
- Identify and communicate significant findings to the corporate team.
- Assist with the annual audit process as required by management.
- Contribute to special projects and other duties as needed.
- Document and improve processes and internal controls within your area of responsibility.
- Foster strong relationships with vendors, contractors, corporate staff, production teams, and grower/farming personnel.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, best practices, and increased department efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting REQUIRED.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong foundation in general accounting practices.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Experience in the agricultural or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Sage 300 accounting software is a plus.
- Proficient in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables) and other Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively as part of a team.
- Willingness to work extra hours during closing periods to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
