What you will do:
The Design Engineering Manager reports to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for overseeing design engineering activities that support plant operations. This role includes providing engineering support and reviewing designs and modifications of Important-to-Remain-Operational Functions (IROFs). The Design Engineering Manager holds the authority to halt any activity within their scope. In such cases, the Engineering Manager must approve the resumption of operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manages the scope of work (including milestones and deliverables), schedule, and budget for design engineering activities.
- Directs the technical oversight and provides guidance to control plant configuration within the design basis and ensures technical reviews and day-to-day technical support is provided for the design.
- Plans, develops, and implements design modifications in a safe, effective, and efficient manner.
- Interacts with other managers to ensure project interfaces are seamless – no overlaps or gaps, including manufacturing, operations, and licensing.
- Assists in contracting Architect/Engineer services for design modification activities, when needed.
- Manages work to ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget.
- Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements.
- Delegates in writing the succession of responsibility during absences.
- Provides technical and administrative guidance to personnel.
- Ensures the workforce includes and is conducive to the participation of individuals with diverse ethnic backgrounds, both genders, including those with and without disabilities.
We’d Love to Hear from People With:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or the physical sciences or equivalent technical experience.
- Four years of nuclear experience is preferred.
- The ability to obtain a DOE “Q” level security clearance
