Summary
The Telecommunications Technician / Team Lead will assist the install team in troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance of WiFi systems, ER / TR / TEs, visitation kiosks, visitation management systems, IP video surveillance systems, copper and fiber optic cabling, and any other hardware / installation related to those or similar systems and devices. The Telecommunications Technician / Team Lead will be the subject matter expert and will guide and mentor technicians assigned to them. This position is nationwide with the expectation of 90% travel for installation projects.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform low voltage cabling installations of copper and fiber optic cables in a commercial setting
- Build out ER and TR spaces including the installation of data control equipment, data racks, patch panels, cable trays, servers, switches, routers, etc.
- Install conduit within a commercial setting
- Consult manuals, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Repair and adjustment of system components or replacing defective parts
- Work with customer or vendor to configure or provision equipment
- Perform proper termination, splicing, testing, and certification of new cabling installed
- Work on projects throughout the entire facility, connecting devices and using lifts and ladders
- Work as a team to troubleshoot and correct problems
- Demonstrates positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
- Provides excellent customer service
- Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback
- Provide daily write-ups to project manager
- Create and manage Excel spreadsheets for projects assigned
- Manage a team for the site or project assigned
- Complete other tasks as assigned
