Charlevoix Middle/High School is looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our Aviation/Aeronautics Science and Technology program. This is an exciting opportunity to shape students' futures and ignite their interest in the dynamic and innovative world of aviation.
Position:
Part-Time Aviation/Aeronautics Science & Technology Teacher
(3 hours/day: 2 hours of instruction 1 planning hour)
Job Length:
Full school year, starting September 2025
Rate of Pay:
$40.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in aviation/aeronautics science and technology, following the established CTE program scope and sequence.
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student exploration and critical thinking.
- Develop and implement interactive lessons, projects, and simulations to deepen students' understanding of aviation principles.
- Facilitate real-world learning experiences, such as field trips, guest speakers, and potential internships, to connect students with industry professionals.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback to support individual growth.
- Collaborate with school staff, administrators, and community partners to strengthen and expand the aviation program.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, class activities, and program development.
Qualifications:
- Option 1: 4000 Hours of Relevant Experience: If not certified, candidates must have at least 4000 hours of recent and relevant work experience in the aviation/aeronautics field
- within the past 10 years. This experience will be evaluated to determine eligibility for Michigan teacher certification under the relevant provisions. Please detail your experience
- clearly in your application.
- Option 2: Michigan Teacher Certification: Must possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate, preferably with an endorsement in a relevant subject area (e.g., Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
- Passion for aviation and a commitment to student success.
- Experience in curriculum development and assessment is preferred.
