Aivston Lumber, now Kirchner Building Centers, is hiring a Receiving Clerk / Material Handler to join our team! Kirchner Building Centers is a family owned and operated business serving East Central Illinois, Western Illinois, Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky. The company was founded in 1906 and continues to grow with each generation.
The Receiving Clerk / Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that each customer receives prompt and courteous service while exemplifying company culture, accountability and maintaining a safety-first mind set. Receiving Clerks are responsible for properly storing products, maintaining equipment and a clean work environment, and participating in delivery operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :
Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and qualityOrganize and store materials in designated warehouse locationsUtilize forklifts and other equipment for efficient handling of materialsNotify Store Manager / Yard Foreman of low inventory levelsMaintain clean and organized environment in lumberyard and storage buildingsConstantly check materials for quality standards; no damaged product to leave lumberyard and no damaged product received into yardMaintain inventory records and assist with inventory management tasksProvide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or issues that may ariseBuild relationships with customers, vendors and team membersProperly stage, package and load materials for deliveries when neededCollaborate with other departments to ensure that all operations are running smoothlyResponsible for proper paperwork received for all deliveries of incoming inventory and inter-yardRequirements :
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
High school diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1 year of experience in related fieldKnowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and construction industry is preferred, but not requiredAbility to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, vendors and team membersStrong organizational skills and attention to detailKnowledge of safety regulations and proceduresAbility to safely operate forklifts and other yard equipmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyPhysical Demands and Work Environment
