The Receiving Clerk / Material Handler is responsible for ensuring that each customer receives prompt and courteous service while exemplifying company culture, accountability and maintaining a safety-first mind set. Receiving Clerks are responsible for properly storing products, maintaining equipment and a clean work environment, and participating in delivery operations.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
- Organize and store materials in designated warehouse locations
- Utilize forklifts and other equipment for efficient handling of materials
- Notify Store Manager / Yard Foreman of low inventory levels
- Maintain clean and organized environment in lumberyard and storage buildings
- Constantly check materials for quality standards; no damaged product to leave lumberyard and no damaged product received into yard
- Maintain inventory records and assist with inventory management tasks
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise
- Build relationships with customers, vendors and team members
- Properly stage, package and load materials for deliveries when needed
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all operations are running smoothly
- Responsible for proper paperwork received for all deliveries of incoming inventory and inter-yard
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field
- Knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment, and construction industry is preferred, but not required
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, vendors and team members
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and other yard equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

- Individual must be able to lift and/or up to 100 lbs. safely
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend for the duration of each shift
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Full time schedule includes a rotation of hours on Saturday’s
- Limited overtime based on business needs
- Working Hours: 7:00am – 5:00pm (hours may vary by location / season; Saturday hours differ)
