The Breitung Township Department of Public Works is hiring one (1) temporary full-time worker for the 2025 summer season.
$15.15/hour to $17.31/hour
Work will include general grounds keeping (grass cutting, weed-eating, brush and tree trimming), compost pick up, checking and clearing trash receptacles, custodial and maintenance duties for buildings and grounds, maintenance and repair on equipment, maintenance work in the cemetery, assisting grave preparation prior to and after burial, assisting with water system repairs and maintenance, and assisting with any other needs related to municipal public service.
No experience is needed!
Must be able to work independently and follow directions accurately. General Skills: Hard manual labor is required; Prolonged standing, bending, stooping, stretching, digging and similar; Communication skills to relate effectively and professionally with the Public Works Superintendent, Foreman, DPW Crew, and general public; Manual dexterity to operate and use various tools, devices, and equipment; Physical agility to climb into confined spaces; May occasionally work with chemicals; Ability to work outdoors during all types of weather and temperatures; ability to lift and carry materials, supplies, and equipment as needed.
The following skills and abilities typical for this type of position and knowledge are a benefit: Aptitude and skills in general maintenance and repairs, valid Driver’s License, ability to use and operate a variety of tools and equipment including weed trimmers and riding lawnmowers, ability to receive and comprehend instructions and carry out assigned tasks to accomplish assigned duty, ability to work unsupervised for designated periods of time.
