Location: Chautauqua Striders, 301 East 2nd St, Jamestown NY & Jamestown Public Schools
Hours: Flexible, Monday-Friday (32 hours per week with the ability to work up to 40 hours with substitute tutoring). Must be available from 2:30pm-5:30pm Monday-Thursday to oversee and assist with after school programming and tutoring.
Position Overview:
As the After School Programs Coordinator, you will oversee all Striders’ after school program tutoring staff at the following schools: Bush Elementary, Fletcher Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Love Elementary, Ring Elementary, Jefferson Middle and Washington Middle. In this role you will be responsible for hiring, training, and supervising staff, as well as filling in as a tutor as needed. You will also be required to document lesson plans, attendance, trainings, and all other necessary documents required by Striders, OCFS, and the 21st Century grant. You will foster relationships with local partnering organizations and school communities to ensure the success of enrichment programs for students in grades K-8. This role requires regular school site visits to strengthen partnerships, address program needs, and ensure quality implementation of lesson plans and tutoring activities.
Responsibilities:
In-Office:
- Conduct Interviews with tutor applicants
- Facilitate onboarding for new hires
- Facilitate mandated tutor trainings
- Scan and upload completed lesson plans
- Communicate with partnering agencies (YMCA/YWCA) about staff updates, concerns, etc.
- Communicate with tutors about schedule changes such as half days, holidays, and snow days
- Purchase needed supplies for each program site
- Review and correct timesheets
- Process any hiring or supply expenses
- Provide program updates to the Director of Academics
- Attend staff meetings and partner meetings
On-Site:
- Visit all after school program sites at least twice a month
- Train new hires
- Address on-site issues such as student needs, lesson preparedness, or behavior concerns by providing support and guidance to tutors
- Check in with program site directors
- Inspect program site binders
- Collect lesson plans from tutors
- Conduct regular tutor evaluations and observations (biannual)
- If needed, fill in as a tutor and assume regular tutor responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Associates degree and two years experience in youth related fields (preferred)
- Must have a driver's license
- Strong communication skills
- Microsoft Suite and TEAMS skills
- Reliability: Commitment to role and assigned schedule
