Position Summary:
As part of the Chebeague Island Inn team, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work at a historic island location in the stunning Casco Bay of Maine. Immerse yourself in a beautiful and serene environment while contributing to the inn’s exceptional culinary offerings. The Chef de Partie is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with the seasonal menu. Working under the direction of the Executive Chef, this role ensures the highest standards of quality and consistency in every dish. The Chef de Partie will work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation. This role requires creativity, strong culinary skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items to the highest standard, ensuring consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation.
- Work in various kitchen stations (e.g., grill, sauté, prep) as directed by the Executive Chef.
- Maintain an organized and clean workstation, adhering to food safety standards and health regulations.
- Assist in inventory management, including ordering and storing ingredients.
- Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of food during service.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to develop and update the seasonal menu.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to recipes and specifications, making adjustments when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and customer satisfaction.
- Support the culinary team during special events, banquets, and peak service periods.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions carefully, with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and health regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, seasonal role.
- Shifts may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Housing is available upon request for a minimal housing fee.
- High-performing candidates may be recommended to sister properties within the Portland metropolitan area.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
