Situated in the heart of the stunning Casco Bay, our 21-room Inn offers an intimate, rustic experience, complemented by a premier full-service restaurant. As a historic landmark, we take pride in offering a welcoming atmosphere and exceptional service, while delivering a memorable dining experience to both Inn guests and locals alike. We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and hospitality-driven Restaurant General Manager to lead our restaurant team, ensuring the highest hospitality standards and a memorable dining experience in our coastal haven.

Position Overview:
The Restaurant General Manager is a seasonal position that will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house coordination, staff management, guest relations, and financial performance. This role requires an individual who is passionate about delivering an exceptional guest experience, fostering a positive team environment, and driving operational efficiency. The Restaurant General Manager will work closely with the Executive Chef, Culinary Director, and Property General Manager to uphold the highest standards of service and culinary excellence. The position requires the ability to balance floor presence with administrative duties to ensure smooth operations and high-quality guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Restaurant Operations Management: Oversee all daily restaurant operations, ensuring a seamless and memorable guest experience from start to finish.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Manage, train, and mentor the restaurant team, creating a positive and collaborative environment. Foster a culture of teamwork, service excellence, and continuous development.
  • Guest Experience: Ensure all guests receive impeccable service, handle any guest concerns promptly, and continuously strive to exceed guest expectations.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage restaurant budgets, labor costs, and supplies inventory. Work with the Property General Manager and Executive Chef to ensure financial goals are met while maintaining quality standards.
  • Menu & Beverage Program Collaboration: Collaborate with the Executive Chef to ensure the restaurant menu reflects the best of coastal Maine cuisine, incorporating seasonal ingredients. Assist with beverage selections and menu updates.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards, and maintain a safe working environment for both guests and staff.
  • Event Coordination: Support in-house events such as weddings, banquets, and special dining events, ensuring seamless execution and excellent service.
  • Vendor Relations & Inventory: Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers to maintain high-quality, fresh products and ensure inventory is properly stocked.
  • Marketing & Promotion: Collaborate with the property marketing team to promote the restaurant, creating seasonal specials, promotions, and unique dining experiences that attract both Inn guests and local patrons.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a restaurant management role, preferably in an upscale or boutique setting.
  • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu design, inventory management, and service standards.
  • Experience with inventory management and reporting, ensuring accurate tracking of stock and supplies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with guests, team members, and vendors.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial reporting, and cost control measures.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively while maintaining a calm, positive demeanor under pressure.
  • A deep understanding of coastal Maine cuisine, seasonal ingredients, and local sourcing is a plus.
  • ServSafe Certification (or similar food safety certification) required.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to balance a strong presence on the floor with necessary administrative duties to ensure smooth operations.
