About the Opportunity
Chelsea Piers Connecticut is seeking to hire a Facilities and Operations Director to join our leadership team. In this role, you will be responsible for oversight of facility maintenance, Housekeeping, security and our day-to-day facility operations. This role reports to the Executive Director/EVP while working closely with every department and venue throughout Chelsea Piers Athletic Club. You will be the go-to person to handle situations at the club and must be able to handle difficult/emergency situations and both develop, maintain and adapt to processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and administer operating and capital expense budgets, working closely with your direct supervisors.
- Establish and maintain facility-wide Emergency Action Plan
- Oversee all work orders through use of CMMS
- Maintain preventative maintenance program for all equipment and machinery
- Work closely with Housekeeping Manager to ensure cleanliness of facility and proper staffing
- Oversee all construction projects, pull permits and interface with all State and Local agencies as necessary
- Routinely check and evaluate staff schedules to ensure optimal utilization of personnel
- Conduct routine staff training to ensure that at all times we have capable staff in the facility to handle any situation that may arise
- Maintain a firm grasp on all technological and mechanical advancements in the industry and any opportunity for savings
- Hold weekly meeting with Operations Staff to discuss all upcoming and ongoing issues, projects, events, etc.
- Attend weekly meeting with the Executive Director
- Work closely with the Events Department to ensure all event operations run smoothly
- Assist on all safety systems, hiring, development and oversight of staff
- Hands-on assistance in troubleshooting and/or repair of equipment and machinery
- First point of escalation for large facility emergencies
- Maintain service contracts with preferred vendors and ensure we are consistently receiving the best pricing and level of service
- Act as a liaison between Chelsea Piers Connecticut and the property owners (landlord) when needed
- Conduct regular performance reviews for all direct reports and sign off on reviews for indirect reports
- Assist in space planning, budget preparation, material selection, cost estimating, construction contracts and cost monitoring as needed
- Other tasks as directed by the Executive Director
- Work closely with outside consultants and other Directors for risk management and EAP SOPs.
- Lead safety training with the assistance of Safety team and outside consultant when needed.
Schedule: Full-Time, 40-50 hours per week. Schedule is typically Monday - Friday and hours may change depending on the operational needs of the facility
Compensation: $115,000 - $145,000 / year, depending on credentials and experience level
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, construction or another technical field; equivalent practical experience will be accepted
- 5 years Facility Management experience with a responsibility of leading teams of at least 15
- Thorough knowledge of all building systems, including HVAC R, plumbing, electrical, fire and life safety
- Previous construction management experience preferred
- Experience in sports-related facility including fields, ice rinks, or aquatics is a plus
- Ability to source vendors, equipment and materials
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing people and customers
- Strong interpersonal, written and analytical skills
- Excellent ability to build relationships and negotiate
- Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service
