Job Description
Scope of the Position
This position provides engineering level support for automation, process control, and electrical systems to support plant operation, projects, optimization, and plant systems administration.
What You Need To Be Successful
- Certified Engineering Technologist or Professional Engineer preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
- minimum 10 years design, configuration, and administration of DCS/PLC hardware and software.
- Experience DeltaV / ABB DCS and Siemens / Allen Bradley PLC experience preferred.
- Ability to collaborate within a cross-sectional team with varied skills and backgrounds to drive improvement. Strong interpersonal and team skills.
- Ability to demonstrate troubleshooting skills and experience.
- Ability to identify root causes and implement action plans to eliminate them.
- Demonstrated experience managing instrumentation and or control projects
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills to all levels and audiences
Key Responsibilities
Control and Information Systems Management
- Maintain automation and control systems at the facility, including distributed control systems (DCS), programmable controllers, Safety Instrumented System, and Industrial Information Systems.
- Secure systems for reliable operation consistent with corporate standards, codes and standards, and best practice.
- Ensure that automation and control systems documentation is established and maintained to protect design integrity. Follow established change management processes.
- Assist in managing the Industrial cyber security and IT at the North Vancouver facility.
- Assist with troubleshooting for Plant Operations.
- Ensure systems comply with policy, standards, procedures and are working towards best practices.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the site’s critical controls program.
- Support the maintenance of business IT systems at the North Vancouver plant in liaison with Corporate IT.
- Support the maintenance department in procuring specialized items and help developing relevant equipment maintenance strategies (PM, PdM, etc.)
Engineering and Management
- Hire and supervise 3rd party contractors to safely execute work at the facility. Prepare safe work plans and manage the safe execution of contract work.
- Identify, implement, and execute capital and maintenance projects within established scope, schedule, and budget.
- Troubleshoot complex instrumentation related issues and provide engineering level support to resolve.
- Manage aspects of the plant biannual maintenance turnaround
Physical Job Demands
- Must meet Medical Fitness for Duty requirements
- Work required at electrical and chemical facilities with exposure related plant hazards
