Job Description:
This is a fully quailed Social Work Supervisor III position responsible for a CPS Day Time and After-Hours team of child welfare social workers at the fully qualified IAT level. Work in this class involves the supervision of a staff of Social Workers that provide direct and/or indirect services to clients. Work supervised is predominantly at the level of Social Worker III and/or Social Worker IAT. This position assigns cases to subordinates, coordinates work flow operations, and supervises staff through case review and consultation which requires the provision of substantial and recurring technical direction. This position is responsible for staff training, resolving problems and ensuring that quality services are provided. This position may provide input to higher level management on administrative, personnel, and budget issues. Responsibilities may range from a single sub-unit to multiple service programs in a small agency and may carry a small caseload. This position reports to the Cherokee County DSS Child Welfare Program Manager. The purpose of the CPS After Hours Supervisor III position is to provide supervision, leadership, oversight and management for the Day Shift and After-Hours shift CPS I A T social worker who work in CPS units.
Minimum Training and Experience:
- Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or
- Master’s degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of directly related experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services field (including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling) from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of directly related experience;
- Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of directly related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Requirements:
- A valid Driver’s License
- Sound knowledge of NC statutes and policy related to child welfare
- Outstanding leadership skills, with the ability to model and teach critical skills to, coach, and motivate staff
- Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
