Job Summary
Assists in the preparation of reports and analytical review of documentation processed for compliance with both federal laws and regulations and Cherokee Nation (CN) policies and procedures while making sure deadlines are met.
Job Duties
Assists in preparation of internal/external reports.
Maintains data integrity for assigned aspects of the financial system.Â
Reviews and verifies the accuracy of information.Â
Plans duties in accordance with set deadline requirements.Â
Assists in training Account Clerks.Â
Validates information on the financial system to ensure that it is accurate and up-to-date.Â
Assists in the disbursement of checks and providing information to authorized personnel as to payment status as requested.Â
Collects, verifies and ascertains the validity of documents for compliance with both Federal laws and regulations and CN policies and procedures used in processes.Â
Gains thorough knowledge of accounting processes and makes suggestions for improvements, when appropriate.Â
Assists with internal and external inquiries.Â
Assists with the information required for programmatic and annual audit. Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; or two years (60 credit hours) coursework from 4-year college or university; or three years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience Requirement
At least five (5) years of related experience in a related field.
Computer Skills
An individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Database software; Internet software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Other Qualifications
Must have advanced computer and data input skills as well as a 10-key calculator by touch ability.Â
Must possess analytical skills.Â
Must be knowledgeable in bookkeeping and have the ability to perform transactional analysis and research.
Employee must not and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
