Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT
Bachelor’s Degree and 4 to 6 years of progressive human resources and/or organizational development experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
Project management experience is preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLS
An individual should know Microsoft Office Software and Internet Software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certifications preferred.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Effective written, communication, presentation and computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Fundamental business acumen. Working knowledge of HR principles and processes. Working knowledge of management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources. Excellent collaboration skills including informing and the ability to flex to support broader business and HR teams, as needed. Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and planning skills. Ability to use data to identify opportunities and/or create solutions. Ability to advise business leaders and employees including the ability to build trusting relationships. Ability to produce results. Ability to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to set priorities and work in a group environment or independently.

Responsibilities:
Consults with department leads and develop Human Resources (HR) initiatives which support business needs. Consults with department leaders, employees and HR to provide value-added tactical support to accomplish Cherokee Nation objectives. Drives HR initiatives within the Cherokee Nation and acts as a liaison to assigned departments. Provides coaching, counseling and career development guidance to department leaders and employees. Understands departmental goals and objectives of assigned employee group(s) and shares knowledge in order to produce solutions that address department priorities. Handles employee relations matters for assigned employee group(s), including employee related investigations. Applies HR expertise in advising CN leadership regarding policies, planning, and departmental restructures and exercises independent judgment and discretion in these matters of significance. Builds productive work relationships with business leaders, employees and co-workers. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
