This role will have responsibilities within Safety and Environmental programs. An estimated time allocation is approximately 60% Environmental and 40% Safety. This role is critical to the functioning of the EHS department and will provide the successful candidate with significant growth opportunities in the EHS department.
Responsibilities & Duties
Environmental Responsibilities:

Inspections / Sampling
- Assist in completing Environmental program inspections including but not limited to, Wastewater, Oil spill prevention, Secondary containment, Stormwater, Housekeeping and Waste storage, Spill response supplies, and Title V visible emissions observations.

Waste Program
- Waste stream profile set up with disposal facilities
- Set up contractor waste pickup schedule
- Tracking waste shipments and manifests
- Maintain waste program records

Program Management
- Develop and manage site-wide recycling program
- Assist with maintaining waste disposal and recycling programs
- Assist with the management of Lead-Based Paint and Asbestos programs
- Assist with the management of NOx CEMS compliance requirements and CEMS QA Plan
- Assist with Green House Gases (GHG) program compliance

Environmental Incident Management
- Assist Environmental Manager with incident investigations by collecting statements that support completion of incident investigations to identify root causes and timely closure of investigations

Records Maintenance
- Organize and maintain Environmental regulatory files
- Prepare packages for regulatory submittal including cover letter preparation and certified mail receipts
- Filing of regulatory submittals in physical and electronic records
- Transfer physical records to digital format

Training & Culture Development
- Develop, facilitate, and track EHS training for all associates and new hires. Contribute to environmental communications (e.g. presentations, training materials, communication board).
- Participate in the planning of emergency response drills and exercises.
- Assist Environmental Manager in developing and encouraging a culture of asking questions, continuous improvement ideas, employee participation, and marking/labeling containers, and waste segregation.
Safety Responsibilities:

Safety Training
- Maintain and upkeep of the Training requirements matrix, at a minimum assist with training matrix development
- Upkeep Training records, at a minimum support HR in training records upkeep
- Setup and coordinate training events
- Support safety training such hands on portions of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) training

Contractor Management
- Assist in auditing contractors when onsite, e.g., badges, observe contractor work, facial hair compliance, PPE adherence, etc.
- Support oversight of contractors when onsite for adherence to safety expectations and LSB safety culture
- Follow and enforce environmental health and safety procedures and expectations

Procedures
- In conjunction with Training and HR functions, track monthly procedure review progress

Site SDS Program
- Maintain Cherokee Safety Data Sheets in the LSB SDS access platform
- Work with Cherokee project managers and contractors to keep the Cherokee SDS library up to date

Employee Physicals
- Support EHS Admin in completing employee physicals, hearing tests and results, new hire data, and Hazmat physicals for employees
- Conduct respirator fit testing for employees in the respiratory protection program

Site Inspections
- Conduct Fire water system inspections and track impairments
- Conduct site inspections of equipment respirators, fire extinguishers, housekeeping, etc.
- Manage LOTO stations and inventory supplies

Safe Work Permit Audit Program
- Develop a Safe Work Permit (SWP) audit program
- Conduct audits with others
- Develop metrics
- Communicate metrics periodically

General
- Support the administrative processes of the EHS department
- Escort visitors and contractors through the site
- Excellent oral and written communication. Strict attention to detail will be key to success in this role.
- Demonstrated organization and record keeping skills.
- Computer Skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong data management and analytical skills.
- Self-starter with time management skills as well as demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
- Positive attitude and interpersonal skills. Ability to work and promote harmony in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Method 9 Visual Observation certification.
Education / Experience
- Knowledge of chemical production processes and program systems

- None required.
Special Training/Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, word processing software and presentation software.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
- The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
