Description
The Chesapeake College is seeking a qualified professional with expertise in medical-surgical nursing. Additional experience in pediatric nursing is preferred, although not required.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for both classroom and clinical teaching, engaging in department and college-wide service activities, and academic advising.
Classroom Teaching
The candidate will teach nursing concepts related to medical-surgical and pediatric specialty areas. Assignments will be based on the candidate's area of professional expertise.
Clinical Teaching
The candidate will supervise students in various clinical settings, providing direct supervision and ensuring student safety.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must hold current RN licensure in the State of Maryland, a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing, and demonstrate a strong foundation in nursing theory and practice.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master's in Nursing Education or Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing Education is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
In a clinical setting, the successful candidate will work for 8-12 hours performing physical tasks that require physical energy without jeopardizing client and student safety. This includes strenuous physical activities such as pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, and carrying more than 50 pounds.
The candidate must also have the ability to perform fine movements, manipulate instruments and equipment, and have sufficient auditory and visual abilities to monitor and assess health needs of clients.
