Estimator – Chesapeake Finishing, Inc
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Estimator and play a critical role in preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for renovation projects.
The ideal candidate must possess strong analytical skills, be familiar with estimating software, and be able to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for multifamily renovation projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans, specifications, and other documentation to accurately determine project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineers to gather essential project information and ensure that estimates are responsive, accurate and align with project goals.
- Utilize estimating software to develop and manage project estimates, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope, conditions, and potential challenges.
- Prepare and present estimation reports to senior estimator and/or management, including detailed breakdowns of costs and timelines.
- Monitor and adjust estimates as project requirements change, providing updated cost projections as needed.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and validate cost estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring all required documentation is included and accurate.
- Maintain a database of historical costs and project data to support future estimating activities.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and estimating tool and technique advancements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the multifamily renovation sector.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam, OST, or similar tools.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering plans and specifications.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations related to multifamily renovations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera.
- Familiarity with building codes and standard practices.
Working Conditions
- This position may require occasional travel to project sites.
- Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with some site visits.
