Chiawana Orchards/Columbia Reach is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead our fast-paced organization. This position is responsible for all aspects of human resources, benefits administration, and the H-2A program for our organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage HR Department for packing warehouse and three orchard hiring centers, including oversight, supervision and training of an HR and safety staff of about 5 people.
- Ensure our organization is complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Oversee all aspects of H-2A Visa program, including contract administration, recruitment, transportation, housing, and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Annual Farm Labor Contract administration
- Policy development and revision
- Oversee hiring, termination, and discipline.
- Oversee and assist with benefits coordination including open enrollment, benefit enrollments, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, Washington State Paid Family Leave and 401(k) plan.
- Manage Drug and Alcohol program including random testing administration.
- Oversee Safety Department including knowledge of self-insured workers compensation and safety training for orchards and warehouse.
- Develop and maintain employee training programs for managers and supervisors.
- Other duties and responsibilities as they develop.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 2 years HR supervisory experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in benefit administration
- BA/BS degree required.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
- Knowledgeable about all areas of employment law and human resources best practices, including familiarity with laws specific to agricultural employers.
- Strong Excel skills
- H-2A Visa contract experience a plus
- Goal oriented, self-starter and able to work without direct supervision.
- Strong problem solver
