What are the responsibilities and job description for the Victim Advocate position at Child Advocacy and Parenting Services?
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred – licensed social worker or related field
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with multiple agencies
- Successful completion of required background checks
- Complete 40-hour KAVA training upon hiring
- Complete 40-hour Forensic Interviewing (Child First) training
- Demonstrated child development knowledge

- Essential elements of the Victim Advocate position:
- Maintains appropriate documentation in case files
- Provides emotional support and in-home visitation for families of child victims
- Serves as a CAC advocate for any abused children and their non-offending caregivers
- Provides on-call advocacy support for the Child Advocacy Center, including scheduled evenings and weekends
- Provides emotional support and accompaniment to criminal justice offices and court for all referred child victims and their non-offending caregivers throughout the investigation and prosecution of their cases
- Submits reports of each victim served to the Program Director after each activity is completed
- Conducts forensic interviews of children who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse or witnessed a violence crime
- Meets regularly with Program Director to coordinate victim advocacy services
- Participates in a minimum of fifteen hours of continuing education each year
- Represents CAPS through active participation in community and fundraising activities
- All other duties assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director
