GENERAL SUMMARY
The Transition Specialist will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Department of Pediatrics during the transition to new leadership. This position is crucial in ensuring the departments continuity while the new Chair assesses and restructures departmental functions and is essential for ensuring a smooth transition and laying the foundation for the new Chairs strategic vision for the Department of Pediatrics. This temporary position, lasting six months, will focus on administrative, financial, and organizational responsibilities. The Transition Specialist will provide strategic support in planning, developing, and implementing changes necessary for advancing the departments mission. Reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in strategic planning and assess the current department structure, recommending improvements where necessary.
Partners with internal and external faculty to identify needs for new and existing services and programs.
Conducts comprehensive evaluations of current systems and procedures, identify operational deficiencies, and propose and implement effective solutions.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other staff to manage academic appointments, onboarding, and promotion processes.
Supports the Chair in addressing operational and administrative needs.
Oversees and manages special projects or functions related to departmental operations as assigned.
Researches, compiles, and analyzes data to prepare reports, proposals, and business plans.
Acts as a key liaison between the Department of Pediatrics and other university departments.
Develops policies and procedures when necessary, that align with departmental and university standards.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in a related field and / or 2 years of experience in healthcare administration or a related role preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical abilities, and proficiency in maintaining a professional work environment.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and manage professional relationships.
Highly organized with a proven ability to work independently, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage resources efficiently.
Understanding of medical department operations.
Ability to navigate and manage change effectively during the transitional period.
Knowledgeable of high technical and functional aptitude for problem solving and critical thinking.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
