What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Development position at ChildServe?
Do you want to be part of the team that expands fundraising capacity at ChildServe to improve the lives of children? We're looking for a Director of Development to grow our Des Moines area donor base through major and annual gifts to advance the mission and help provide resources to implement the organization’s strategic plan.
What You’ll Do
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 75 major gift prospects by building personal relationships and creating individualized approaches for each prospect.
- Develop a comprehensive major and annual giving program designed to substantially grow the number of individuals/families who include the organization in their philanthropy.
- Design and present compelling and customized proposals/gift requests to individuals, corporations, and foundations that align with donor interests and organizational priorities.
- Successfully close gifts that advance the mission and achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals.
- Provide support to ChildServe special events through sponsorship calls and logistical support as needed.
- Produce reports and provide support to periodic Trustee meetings and committee meetings.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s degree in related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of progressively more responsible experience in development.
- Demonstrated track record of achievement in closing major gift commitments, including personal visits with prospects and moves management approaches.
- Working knowledge of development best practices, trends in philanthropy, fundraising tools and technology, and donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship principles.
- Excellent written and presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
