What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Manager position at CHOMARAT North America?
Founded in 1898 in France, CHOMARAT is an independent industrial group that has become a benchmark in the world of composite materials and technical textiles with three sites in the United States.
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for effectively managing the Maintenance Team, which includes technicians and team leaders at all three locations. As maintenance manager, you will also be coordinating with Engineering and Operations to ensure facilities and equipment are suitable and robust for business demands. In addition, the maintenance manager leads installation and implementation of major projects as well as improving and manages the Plant Manager program that includes logical, visible, and organized spare parts inventories.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Leading and directing maintenance staff
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) as assigned by Plant Manager and as defined by policies & instructions
- Performing required repairs, both scheduled and unscheduled, to return machines back to production as quickly as possible
- Solving problems with facility and process equipment in a quick and efficient manner while keeping others appropriately & respectfully informed
- Frequently communicating and working with Purchasing & suppliers to order supplies, equipment, and parts as well as prepare parts & equipment for shipment
- Managing the shop supply materials as needed, including ordering, tracking, and stocking supplies to support manufacturing operations
- Directing and overseeing outside maintenance contractors, suppliers, and resources
- Partnering with outside contractors as needed to load & unload, ship, move, modify, replace, repair and install new & existing processes and facility equipment
- Performing basic maintenance operations including welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication work, general carpentry, painting, and plumbing work as needed with the authority to perform lockout/tag out procedures on equipment
- Leading the rebuild of trammers and incinerator inspections as well as process rubber roll inspections while completing required documentation
- Operating powered industrial trucks in a variety of settings and situations
- Scheduling repair work during plant shutdown periods that cannot be performed while the operation is running
- Observing safety and security procedures while constantly inspecting areas for hazards
- Correcting & resolving safety issues within reasonable control and actively participating in safety initiatives
- Following safety guidelines and using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Reporting safety incidents or concerns immediately and taking corrective action when appropriate
- Ensuring quality of products by following established work methods and procedure including inspection, quality checks and documentation
- Accurately recording data both manually and in the systems required
- Understanding & following directions and responding appropriately to direction
- Maintaining clean and organized work areas while being responsible for maintenance related housekeeping
- Maintain regular & reliable attendance – overtime and/or temporary change in shifts, hours, or days may be required to meet customer demands
SKILLS REQUIRED INCLUDE:
- Problem solving and prioritization skills with the willingness to make decisions
- Ability to work both independently and part of a team with minimal direct supervision
- Good vision to perform work and read product, process, and workplace information
- Ability to read a tape measurer and record data
- Fine finger movement necessary to work with yarns, knobs, and controls
- Written and verbal communication skills to record data and read instructions
- Must be able to read and interpret written information to include specification sheets and daily production reports as well as the ability to provide instruction to others and convey information in a written format
- Ability to hear emergency warning and moving manufacturing equipment
- Ability to work in tight spaces and remain in awkward positions when performing set-up or specific tasks
- Ability to reach, twist, bend, push, pull, and stoop
- Must be capable of constant standing, walking, and climbing with the ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds, elevated platforms and heights – including the roof
- Must be capable of lifting heavy weights required with parts & machinery – may occasionally lift an excess of 100 lbs. with assistance
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel daily between all three CNA locations in Anderson
- Ability to operate OR willingness to be trained to operate a forklift
- Understanding of professional conduct and appropriate interaction with others
- Self-motivation with a willingness to learn new skills
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED INCLUDES:
- Associates degree with 5 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance positions preferred OR a High School Diploma or GED with 10 years of experience in manufacturing maintenance positions
- Experience in woven, non-woven, and assembled textiles with understanding of fiber conversions and industrial fabrics preferred
- Experience with various levels of control systems (PLCs and other machine controls) preferred
- Required broad technical experience in manufacturing process
- Required aptitude and interpersonal skills to lead people for desired results
- Strong background with process & continuous improvement methods
- Strong leadership skills with excellent verbal and written communication
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities while adapting to changing situations
- Basic typing skills and proficiency in utilization of Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and knowledge or understanding of other common computer applications and databases
