Overview
Chord Specialty Dental Partners, a leading Dental Support Organization, is seeking an Assistant Controller to play a vital role in driving our financial operations forward. This is an exciting opportunity to support and supervise our accounting department while overseeing key functions such as financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance.
We’re looking for someone with strong accounting expertise, sharp analytical skills, and experience working within multi-location healthcare or dental organizations. Location: Nashville, TN
Schedule: This position follows a hybrid schedule — 3 days in-office and 2 days remote
Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 (commensurate with experience)
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Support the accounting department with all aspects of the general ledger
- Coach and train team members and participate in evaluating performance of personnel in Accounting
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Manage general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Coordinate with tax consultants on various tax filing projects
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed.
- Manage provider compensation true-up calculation process
- Collaborate with operational and clinical teams to streamline financial processes and enhance reporting.
- Maintain the company’s ERP system and report set up
- Prepare cash forecasting for weekly AP check run and management
- Oversee daily cash management operations
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Masters preferred.
- 10 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a multi-location healthcare or DSO environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems and financial software used in the dental or healthcare industry.
- Familiarity with revenue cycle management and dental insurance reimbursement processes.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and tax laws applicable to DSOs.
