The Opportunity:
This is a key role reporting directly to the Managing Partner. You will be solely responsible for the firm's day-to-day bookkeeping functions. What You'll Do:
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
- Prepare and send monthly bills to clients.
- Handle client inquiries regarding billing via phone and email, including addressing disputed charges professionally.
- Manage firm credit card transactions and reconciliations.
- Submit bills electronically to insurance companies for defense work using portals like Tymetrix.
- Manage the firm's IOLTA trust account accurately and ethically.
- Process and write checks.
- Prepare financial reports for regular partner meetings (bi-weekly) and handle end-of-month and end-of-year closing procedures.
Software You'll Use:
- Centerbase: Our primary legal case management and billing software. No prior experience with Centerbase is required; we will provide training. (Similar concepts to QuickBooks but more tailored to legal practice).
- Tymetrix: Used for submitting bills for insurance defense matters.
- Microsoft Office 365: Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel is expected.
What We're Looking For:
- Required: Demonstrable bookkeeping experience OR relevant accounting/bookkeeping/business administration coursework.
- Preferred: Prior experience working in a law firm setting is a plus.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail – accuracy is crucial.
- Comfortable communicating professionally with clients and attorneys, both verbally and in writing.
- Proactive and able to manage tasks independently.
- Willingness and ability to learn new software systems (Centerbase, Tymetrix).

Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly wage: $22 - $25, depending on experience.
