Collaborate with the director and production team to provide high quality learning experiences for the cast and crew while creating a visually captivating storytelling experience for the audience.

Qualifications
- Has proven experience in costume design and construction for musical theater
- Degree or certificate in a related field such as costume design, fashion design, or theater arts is a plus; equivalent professional experience also accepted
- Has strong sewing, pattern-making, and tailoring skills
- Has knowledge of period costumes, fabric care, and garment construction
- Has experience with costume rentals and sourcing materials
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with director, production team, performers, and stage crew
- Has strong organizational and time-management skills
- Has the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Has an eye for detail and meticulous standard of excellence in their work
- Has the ability to work under pressure and make in-the-moment costume adaptations and/or repairs during dress rehearsals and performances
- Has an understanding of safety concerns for theatrical costuming
- Experience with wig styling and costume prosthetics is a plus for some productions
- Has the ability to work within a budget
SALARY: $24/hour
Responsibilities
- Design and create costumes that align with the artistic vision of the production
- Collaborate with the director and production team to develop cohesive visual aesthetics
- Source and purchase, rent, and/or borrow fabrics, materials, and costume pieces as needed
- Construct, alter, and repair costumes for performances
- Ensure costumes are functional and safe for movement, dancing, and quick changes
- Manage costume fittings and adjustments for cast members
- Maintain and organize the costume inventory for the production, ensuring all pieces are properly prepared and accessible for performances
- Instruct cast and crew members in the proper use and care of costumes pieces
- Oversee staff, student, and volunteers serving as costume assistants and dressers, instructing them in proper care and use of costumes as required
- Adhere to budget constraints and production timelines
- Provide ongoing maintenance and cleaning of costumes throughout the production run as needed
- Oversee cleaning and storage of costumes at the end of the production run, including the return of rented and borrowed pieces
