Goal

Qualifications
- Has experience in live music sound engineering, preferably in musical theater or concert settings
- Holds degree or certificate in related field, such as audio engineering, music performance, music education or or equivalent professional experience; preferred, but not required
- Has excellent musical ear for equalizing, mixing, and balancing live sound
- Has proficiency in selection, application, and operation of live sound equipment, including digital and analog mixing consoles, various types of wired and wireless microphones, playback devices, speaker and monitor systems
- Has strong knowledge of strategic microphone placement for actors and musicians
- Must be able to troubleshoot technical issues quickly under pressure
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with director, production team, performers, and stage crew
- Has understanding of and uses best practices for maintaining sound equipment
SALARY: $24/hour
Responsibilities
- Design and operate live sound systems for musical theater productions
- Collaborate with director and production team to plan and execute sound designs effectively
- Assess equipment needs for major productions, accounting for resources already available and outlining items needing to be reasonably acquired
- Oversee the set up and striking of all sound equipment
- Assist in the installation and return of rental sound equipment.
- Manage and maintain microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and other audio equipment during production run
- Program and operate digital and analog mixing consoles
- Create plan for sharing of microphones between performers
- Create cue sheets and/or mark cues as needed
- Fit performers with wireless microphones
- Train and supervise backstage assistants, both staff and students, as needed
- EQ microphones for specific performance venue and performers
- Mix live sound for performances, making real-time adjustments to ensure optimal balance between vocals and instrumental accompaniment or recorded sound tracks
- Perform pre-show sound checks, adjusting audio settings as needed
- Troubleshoot technical issues and ensure sound equipment functions correctly before and during performances
