Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Lab Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the finishing and assembly of optical lenses and eyewear, ensuring precision and high-quality standards are met. This role requires proficiency in operating optical lab equipment, as well as knowledge of lens materials, measurements, and prescription specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lens Assembly: Mount lenses into optical frames, ensuring proper fitting and alignment, and verify that eyewear meets quality standards.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products to ensure they meet customer specifications and optical standards, including verifying the lens type, and frame.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate optical lab equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
- Inventory Management: Keep track of lens materials, supplies, and frame stock, and notify management of inventory needs.
- Customer Communication: Collaborate with opticians and other team members to ensure accurate orders and delivery timelines. Address customer queries related to their eyewear orders, if necessary.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of orders, production progress, and completed eyewear orders.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in optical technology or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience as an optical lab technician or in a similar position is preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision instruments.
- Knowledge of various lens types, materials, and coatings.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Good communication skills and customer service orientation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Dexterity to handle small components and perform detailed work.
