PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Choir Director shall direct the instructional program for all choir students and coordinate campus choir activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certification Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements - All Level or Secondary Music Education
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years of public-school music teaching experience, preferred
- Vocal music pedagogy experience, preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Provide instruction in the choir program
- Coordinate the instructional process for choir students in concerts, choir, and music appreciation classes
- Maintain accurate choir inventory, budget, maintenance, and general operation of all activities
- Support all district policies regarding the welfare and education of students
- Actively coordinate campus choir activities with campus programs, staff, and community
- Actively prepare students for quality participation in UIL/TMEA sponsored events
- Actively participate in the professional development of personal teaching competencies
- Actively participate in professional organizations which foster and support music education
- Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of personnel rules, regulations, and practices.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision and evaluation of District personnel is not a requirement of this position; however, the supervision of students is required. Direct the work of instructional aide(s).

- Office equipment – persona computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
- Communication equipment – radio communication equipment, cellular telephone
