Cimarron is seeking a Survivability Engineering Support Specialist to support the Geostationary Extended Observations (GeoXO) satellite system program in Highlands Ranch, CO. GeoXO is NOAA’s next-generation Geostationary Extended Observations satellite system, designed to revolutionize how we monitor Earth’s atmosphere and oceans. GeoXO will deliver critical data to improve forecasts and increase preparedness for severe weather, air quality events, and harmful algal blooms. By enhancing public safety and delivering significant economic benefits, GeoXO represents a transformative step in safeguarding lives, property, and our nation’s resilience.
This is a hybrid role that only requires onsite support two days per week.
Key Duties:
- Conduct survivability assessments to evaluate the resilience of systems and platforms against various threats, including ballistic, explosive, thermal, and electromagnetic threats.
- Develop and apply models and simulations to analyze survivability performance and identify vulnerabilities.
- Support the development of the Radiation Effects Control Plan.
- Support the design and integration of survivability features, including armor systems, countermeasures, and stealth technologies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure survivability requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform trade studies to balance survivability, weight, cost, and performance considerations.
- Stay current with advancements in materials science, emerging threats, and survivability technologies.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry and government standards for survivability and operational effectiveness.
- Support the subsystem and system Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for consideration at this time.
- 5 or more years of experience.
- Experience with survivability engineering principles, tools, and methodologies.
- Proficiency in modeling and simulation tools such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, or LS-DYNA.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Experience in the defense, aerospace, or automotive industries.
- Familiarity with survivability standards and guidelines (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-A-46100).
- Knowledge of advanced materials, including composites and ceramics.
- Certification or training in survivability engineering or related disciplines.
