What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rental Agent position at CINDER LIGHTING & GRIP LLC?
Cinder Lighting & Grip LLC is a small business providing rental equipment to Atlanta’s busy film production market. Usually our customers know what gear they need. Sometimes they need suggestions or advice on their particular lighting situation. Rental Agents help our customers through the order process from start to finish. This position reports to the Managing Partner.
A Rental Agent’s responsibilities include:
- Interact with customers to determine their equipment needs, build quotes, negotiate pricing, and manage payments
- Coordinate with the warehouse department regarding orders and deadlines to ensure equipment is ready on time
- Communicate with other rental houses to plan sub-rentals when Cinder doesn’t have everything a customer needs
- Build a strong knowledge of the lighting and grip inventory
- Maintain logs and reports to support orders and sub-rentals
- Perform various data entry tasks as needed
- Any other reasonable activity required by management
Key skills necessary for this role are:
- Customer Service. Cinder is known for having strong relationships with repeat customers. We aren’t looking for pushy salesmen. An ideal candidate will build rapport with their customers, help them solve their gear problems, and only up-sell when it makes sense.
- Communication. Things break down when people keep information in their heads. Being able to clearly communicate to other departments and peers ensures that work will be done right the first time.
- Accuracy and attention to detail. Orders can consist of hundreds of different pieces of gear. Recording information accurately ensures the customer gets exactly what they need.
- Problem-solving skills. Orders aren’t always clear cut and many require some planning and logistics beyond simple data entry.
- Flexibility with changing priorities. The film industry is chaotic and fast paced. Rental agents need to be able to roll with the punches as things change throughout a day.
