JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) is responsible for welcoming and directing patients, answering, screening, routing phone calls, and checking patients in and out. The PSS will also be responsible for scheduling patients and transcribing charges for billing purposes.
Job Specific :
1. Greet patients. (EF)
2. Promptly answer and direct all incoming phone calls to the appropriate area. (EF)
3. Check patients in and out accurately and efficiently. (EF)
4. Verify and update all patient demographics.
5. Schedule patients according to protocol and guidelines. (EF)
6. Prepare and prep staff for daily patient schedule.
7. Electronically transcribe charges from nursing and provider staff for billing purposes. (EF)
8. Prepare paper records for electronic storage.
9. Confirm appointments and document responses in EMR. (EF) 10. Receive and upload laboratory, imaging, and other procedural results into the patient's e-chart.
Hospital :
- Adhere to organization-wide and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Day-to-day performance complies with the hospital's Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
- Perform within the prescribed limits of the hospital's Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
- Perform within professional Scope of Practice.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required : High School education or GED
Preferred : Education and / or training related to the clinic specialty
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Required : At least one year of receptionist experience
Preferred : Prior experience working in a medical practice / office or healthcare related field
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Required : Basic computer skills, an ability to effectively communicate, and multitask
Preferred : Familiar with medical terminology, proficient in Microsoft Office, and prior experience with an electronic medical record platform
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Preferred : Medical Assistant certification
