The Denver International Airport (DEN) Planning & Design division is actively seeking an Airport Planning DENtern to contribute to their division. As part of DEN's Strategic Plan, Vision 100, which envisions reaching 100 million annual passengers, Planning & Design plays a pivotal role in transforming the aviation industry. In support of Vision 100, Planning & Design optimizes and prepares DEN for the future, ensuring that our infrastructure (Airfield / Concourses / Terminal) will be ready to meet the needs of our passengers.

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive pay rate to commensurate with education. The salary range for this position is $20.92-23.64 / hour, based on education. Denver International Airport emerging talent positions are required to attend all sessions of professional development within the cohort model. You will be onboarded with a cohort of peers to begin to help you develop your network across the aviation industry.
As an intern you will get to experience working on projects such as :
Create written reports / exhibits and presents them to internal stakeholders
Conduct analyses of gate efficiency, effectively communicate planned construction. (Autodesk Civil3D / Excel / PowerPoint)
Airport Layout Plan (ALP) Updates
Contribute to updating DEN’s ALP to show future infrastructure and adjust it to newer design standards. (ArcGIS / FAA Advisory Circulars)
Gate Upsizing
Using DEN / Airline Gate Layout Standards, determine if and how regional gates can be upsized to service mainline aircraft. (Autodesk Civil3D with AviPlan)
Aviation Mega Trend Research
In a group of other interns, research, interview experts, and present to executive leadership on a specific aviation mega trend to help prepare DEN for the future.

A strong interest in Airport Planning and a desire to learn how the Denver International Airport approaches it.
Be pursuing a degree in Aviation Planning, Airport / Aviation Management, or a related field.

Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement : Current enrollment in an accredited college program leading to a certificate, licensure, associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in, or a recent graduate (completed specified program within 1 year of completion).

Location Flexibility
The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model with a required 3 days in office. Employees work where needed to support business, at the Denver International Airport. We do not offer housing or relocation assistance for this position.
Internship Duration and Hours :
Duration : 10 weeks
Start Date : June 2nd, 2025
End Date : August 8th, 2025
Typical hours : 8 : 00AM – 4 : 30PM (exact times can be flexible, not to exceed 39 hours / week).

FBI Background Check : FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN).
