Job Description Summary:
Under direct supervision, to plan and prepare meals for Watershed Crew, to order needed supplies, to clean kitchen and dining areas, and to perform related duties as required.Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares three meals a day during weekdays for a crew of up to ten.
- Plans menus and prepares a food list for weekly supply pick-up. Purchases food and kitchen supplies.
- Monitors and tracks food and kitchen supply expenditures.
- Cleans kitchen and dining area, including washing dishes, pots and pans, mopping floors, and wiping tables.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city.
- Takes proper safety precautions, anticipates unsafe circumstances, and acts accordingly to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self, others, materials, and equipment. Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations, policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property.
- Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.

- Ability to lift and transport heavy kitchenware.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Have and maintain acceptable motor vehicle record and criminal history.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Working towards or completed high school diploma.
- Experience cooking for a group, planning meals and purchasing food and kitchen supplies.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Physical and Mental Effort: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to prepare food. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate kitchen equipment, and manual and power tools. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in a kitchen and outdoor environment. Work may include extended periods of time standing. Ability to work under stress from demanding deadlines and changing priorities and conditions. Upper body strength to lift up to 25 pounds on a daily basis.
- Work Environment: Works in a high-altitude, indoor and outdoor environment with an exposure to a variety of weather conditions. May work in a setting subject to continuous interruptions and background noises.
- Machines and Equipment Used: Kitchen equipment, manual and power tools, a vehicle, and standard office equipment including computers, phones, calculators and copy/fax machines.
Living Accommodations: Employee must live on-site.
- Employee must live in employer-provided accommodations at Silver Lake Watershed Monday through Friday, or as otherwise negotiated. Silver Lake Watershed is 13 miles from Nederland, CO, which is the nearest town.
- Employee sleeps in private room in bunkhouse and has access to private bathroom in bunkhouse.
- Employee works an 8 hour shift each day.
- Employee carpools between Boulder and Silver Lake in a city vehicle at the start and end of the work week.
- During non-working hours, employee must comply with city rules, regulations, and policies while on-site.
