DEFINITION
Provide leadership and coordination of the development and activities of the 17th Judicial District Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) housed at the City of Brighton. A SART is a multidisciplinary, interagency collaboration that unites its members in a coordinated victim-centered and offender-focused approach to providing specialized sexual assault intervention services to the community. The position also assists with the development of a community medical-forensic exam program, particularly with regard to ensuring collaboration between the two programs. This position must work well independently and with the public, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the City of Brighton Victim Services Coordinator. This position does not supervise others.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Develops and maintains a sustainable SART program with the goal of improving services to adult and adolescent sexual assault victims, sexual assault investigation, evidence collection, and prosecution.
Works with medical personnel in the community to develop or enhance a medical-forensic exam program for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims.
Coordinates effective interagency collaboration to generate a coordinated response team to meet the needs of adolescent and adult sexual assault survivors.
Staffs the community SART program and its activities, including planning and conducting monthly SART meetings.
Maintains regular communication with SART members to ensure consistent participation in SART activities.
Works with the medical professional managing the medical-forensic program and assist in the development of the medical-forensic program as needed – particularly with regard to ensuring both programs are collaborating.
Coordinates SART trainings and assist, if necessary, with the coordination of medical-forensic exam training.
Provides leadership and facilitation in the development of SART policies and protocols.
Develops, coordinates and leads the case review process.
Works with statewide project coordinator to develop program plan and provide monthly update reports to the statewide coordinator.
Attends required trainings for all local coordinators and maintain communications with other SART coordinators around the state.
Collects and reports data as required by statewide project coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Sexual assault response and knowledge of SART best practices policies, procedures and goals of the City of Brighton and the Department.
Proper use of grammar, punctuation and syntax.
Basic principles of project management.
Principles of quality customer service.
Basic principles of conflict resolution.
Basic principles and practices of fiscal, statistical, and administrative data collection and report preparation.
Ability to:
Work with stakeholders from multiple disciplines and develop collaborative relationships.
Organize and facilitate diverse groups.
Maintain confidentiality.
Organize and prioritize work.
Effectively write, edit, and revise materials prepared by others.
Use standard office equipment including copiers, fax machine, calculators, audio/visual equipment, and multi-line phones.
Exercise independent judgment and decision making when prioritizing tasks.
Identify problems or issues, analyze data, and make sound recommendations based upon findings.
Listen well and communicate effectively orally and in writing with various audiences.
Use standard computer equipment and software including word processing, presentation,
data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
Collect data and prepare comprehensive reports.
Solve problems potentially involving volatile issues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform moderate physical work, and to lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
Ability to stand, walk, sit, ride, climb, reach, grasp and perform similar body movements; possesses hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to operate office equipment including a computer keyboard and in some cases, operate a vehicle; ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone; ability to see and read instructions, journals, charts, and characters on a computer screen.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, walk, stand, twist, talk, hear, see, demonstrate manual dexterity, and perform light lifting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license with safe driving record.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Completion of FEMA IS100 and IS700 within six (6) months of hire.
