Dates: Seasonal employment from late May through July
Monday-Friday varying shifts 7:15am-5:45pm
Location: SD 27J School within Brighton city limits
NATURE OF WORK
The State Licensed Funshine Summer Day Camp Program accommodates up to 125 children ages 6 to 12 years old. The camp runs daily Monday through Friday for approximately 8 weeks during the summer. Various training days prior to the start of camp are required to meet state standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- The Group Leader is responsible for demonstrating, instructing, engaging in participation and actively supervising all activities and events for their group.
- Leader must provide safe and secure environment.
- The Group Leader is accountable for location and activity of the children at ALL times.
- Understand appropriate disciplinary techniques and the importance of documenting incidents.
- Create interesting lesson plans and implement activities while engaging in participation with the campers.
- Daily interaction/communication with parents and/or Site Director regarding children or program issues.
- Comply with state licensing requirements under the direction of the Site Director.
- The Group Leader supervises Group Aides reports directly to the Site Director.
- Open and close program/building rooms and secures rooms/building at the end of the program.
- The Group Leader also assures that the site is kept neat and clean throughout the day, maintains supplies/equipment and attends staff meetings.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND FORMAL TRAINING
The candidate must be at least 18 years of age. Three months full-time or part-time equivalent verifiable experience with school age children is mandatory. Candidate must also pass background check. CPR, First Aid and Universal Precautions required within 60 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current certification in CPR and First Aid. Certifications must be obtained by or show proof of class registration before May 1, 2022.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina and flexibility to move or carry up to 50 pounds, stand, crouch, kneel, bend and stoop while assisting children for long periods of time. The candidate must have adequate hearing and vision in order to discriminate between different sounds, objects, people and colors at near and far distances. Position also requires active participation in swim related activities.
