Community Service Officer
The City of Burlington is seeking a Community Service Officer to perform duties related to animal control services, parking enforcement, and other parking-related services. This uniformed, limited commission position requires the individual to work effectively in an attentive, efficient, and safe manner.
Essential Functions:
- Supports and promotes the values of the Burlington Police Department and law enforcement profession.
- Enforces local laws and ordinances as directed by supervision or policy.
- Responds to calls and initiates contacts regarding animal control, traffic control, parking, crime prevention, and vehicle lockouts.
- Issues citations for animal and parking-related code violations.
- Provides basic animal care, clean-up, and transport.
- Testifies in court as necessary.
- Evaluates and reports regulation signage, traffic direction, and signals in need of repair or adjustment.
- Provides traffic control at incidents, special events, or when requested by the patrol division.
- Assists with office support activities such as handling telephone complaints, computer work, and filing reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- High School Diploma required.
- Three (3) years customer service experience in dealing with the general public.
- Preferred three (3) years' experience with duties closely related to those described above.
- Valid Washington State Drivers License with driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier.
