The Public Works Director directs and administers public works and engineering functions for the City of Burlington and is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of streets, traffic controls, wastewater treatment plants, drainage facilities, buildings & grounds, equipment, and public works contracts. The position develops and manages the goals, objectives, and direction of the Department of Public Works as established by the City Council through the City Administrator for public works in the community. All permits and licenses for drainage, paving, site improvements, sanitary sewer service and land subdivision shall be reviewed and approved by the Public Works Director.
