The City of Caldwell Police Department is seeking a Community Service Officer to join our ranks!
Join our team at the Caldwell Police, serving a diverse and growing community alongside 85 officers that serve a population of approximately 70,000.
The Community Service Officer (CSO) provides vital support to the Caldwell Police Department by assisting with day-to-day operations, community engagement, and enforcement of specific public safety concerns. Key responsibilities include assisting with graffiti matters, abandoned vehicles, criminal and non-criminal investigations, and public assistance, as well as supporting police personnel through documentation, records management, data processing, and information analysis. Performs other work as assigned.
CSOs play an integral role in enhancing public safety and improving community relations by responding to non-emergency calls for service, assisting officers in various administrative and operational capacities, and ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures. While this role does not involve sworn law enforcement authority, CSOs must demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and strong communication skills in dynamic environments.
Required Special Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Must possess a valid and current driver’s license.
- Possession of or ability to obtain NCIC and ILETS Certification.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Must pass a psychological test and a polygraph test.
- Must pass a drug test
- Subject to callbacks, shift work, and working weekends.
