Business/Work Hours: Flexible; may include working events such as Live on the Levee and Regatta
Pay Rate: $12.00/hour
General Description
This position supports the planning and execution of community, recreational, cultural, and special events hosted by the City of Charleston. It is designed for youth ages 16-20 and is performed under close supervision following established procedures.
Maximum work hours are up to 35 hours per week, depending on event needs and scheduling.
Responsibilities, Tasks, and Projects

Assist with general clerical tasks, including data entry, filing, answering phones, and responding to emails

Support event preparation by organizing materials, setting up event areas, and coordinating logistics

Help design and print event signage, flyers, and promotional materials

Provide on-site event assistance, including vendor coordination, guest support, and equipment setup/takedown

Track inventory of event supplies and help ensure all necessary materials are available

Assist with social media and marketing tasks such as drafting posts and capturing event photos

Perform other duties as assigned to support successful event execution and daily office operations
Candidate Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds

Familiarity with internet use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Strong communication skills

Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods in heat

Comfortable with frequent walking and standing during event setup and execution
Dress Code

Casual attire is appropriate for office tasks

Shorts are permitted only when working outdoor events

Comfortable, supportive shoes are required
