The preferred starting salary for this position is $15.00 hourly. Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience and internal equity. The full-time, non-exempt position provides excellent benefits including 13 paid holidays, plus paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance options with employer contribution, employer-paid life insurance, City's retirement options, gym membership reimbursement, and continuing education/training opportunities. The part-time, non-exempt position provides pro-rated benefits.

- Mans the makerspace and digital media lab; assists patrons on library computers, printers, and makerspace lab equipment.
- Monitors behavior of patrons and takes appropriate action.
- Informs patrons of library policies and procedures.
- Answers questions from lab patrons and telephone inquiries.
- May be asked to assist at other library service desks.
- Troubleshoots minor problems with hardware and software.
- Reports facility and equipment maintenance and repair needs.
- Responsible for appropriate use and maintenance of JMRL equipment, tools, and other resources, including work time.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs additional duties to support operational requirements as apparent or assigned.

- High School diploma or GED and 3 months of experience working with the public in a customer service environment, and experience working with relevant hardware and software.
OR
- 2 years of experience working with the public in a customer service environment, and experience working with relevant hardware and software.

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
Job Knowledge:
- Knowledge of and proficiency in use of various computer platforms and software, internet, and basic search skills.
- Knowledge of Internet and use of basic searching skills.
- Knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting with in-house devices.
- Knowledge of library policies and procedures.
- Intermediate: Ability to read and understand written materials such as newspapers, magazines, journals, multi-step instruction manuals, and reference materials.
- Basic: Ability to write simple letters, paragraphs and sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or series of numbers, names, and addresses.
- Basic: Provide standard information to and interacts with others outside direct reporting relationships on procedures or general policies. Interaction requires recognizing different points of view to ensure understanding and appropriate response. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with co-workers and customers. Requires good telephone etiquette.
