Description / Position Overview

Inventory Control Technician - Colorado Springs Airport

The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Inventory Control Technician to the Airport Maintenance Team! As an Inventory Control Technician, you will support the Airport's inventory control system through the procurement of goods, materials, supplies, and equipment; ensuring adequate stock as well as aged inventory plans; perform related processing and record keeping functions and exercise responsibility for accurate and timely performance of procurement and inventory control activities; as well as perform other related duties assigned.

Hourly Salary : $21.78 - $26.14

Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00AM - 5 : 00PM

Pre-Employment Requirements : The selected candidate must pass (or have already passed) a fingerprint-based criminal history records check as required by the Transportation Security Administration.

As an Inventory Control Technician, you will :

  • Analyze usage history and shelf-life of items and consults with departmental section personnel to establish minimum and maximum storage levels
  • Review requisitions for quantity, adequate description and accuracy to maintain proper stock control
  • Recommend use of existing stock in instances where items requisitioned are interchangeable with same
  • Review specifications for new items and prepares new or revises existing specifications when necessary
  • Forward requisitions for materials and supplies to proper sources
  • Contact vendors to expedite delivery
  • Record material transactions, transfers, corrections, warranty transactions, research, and work order transactions
  • Prepare various reports relating to parts issuance, receipts, work orders, and billing information
  • Receive, stock, and issue various parts, materials, supplies, tools and equipment
  • Verify and inspects incoming shipments for appropriate application, quantity and quality, and signs for items as appropriate
  • Operate appropriate equipment including a forklift, pallet, jack, hand truck, cart, and delivery truck, and unloads shipments
  • Assist technical staff in determining accurate parts applications for assigned projects
  • Place telephone orders for stock and special items
  • Research parts manuals and technical publications
  • Conduct a periodic inventory of stock items; and maintains proper stock levels by ordering supplies and parts daily
  • Maintain vendor files, logs and records of all transactions

  • We are looking for candidates who demonstrate :

    Knowledge of :

  • Proper receiving procedures, including inspection, verification, and documentation of shipments
  • Inventory control systems and processes, including tracking, labeling, and reporting discrepancies
  • Proper handling and storage of materials, including hazardous materials, if applicable
  • Occupational safety standards and practices related to warehouse operations
  • Basic computer skills and software used for inventory tracking (e.g., WMS, Excel, or other logistics tools)
  • The Ability to :

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently
  • Follow detailed procedures and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks and resolve issues
  • Lift and move heavy items repeatedly while adhering to safety guidelines
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • One year of full-time aviation inventory control experience
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and / or drug violations or pending charges

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of professional experience in a warehouse, logistics, or receiving environment, including tasks such as inventory control, stock management, and order fulfillment
  • Possession of a current forklift operator certification or hands-on experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment
